In 1981 a Latter-day Saint graduate student attending a University near Oberlin, Ohio prepared a line-by-line transcript of the Solomon Spalding manuscript on file in the Archives of the Oberlin College Library. This document is probably the most complete and accurate duplication of Spalding's hand-written text, including all his cross-outs and interlineal additions. The transcript exists in both typescript and word-processor formats but neither of these have been easily available for viewing by the general public. The single page shown above was taken from a copy of the document on file at the University of Utah. Should permission ever be granted for further reproduction more of the transcript will be made available through this web site.
